The Candlin researcher award
The Candlin Researcher Award is dedicated to the memory of Professor Christopher N. Candlin (1940 – 2015) who was the co-founder of the ALAPP Conference and the founding co-editor of the Journal of Applied Linguistics and Professional Practice (JALPP).
The award comprises a certificate, a selection of books and free subscription to the Journal of Applied Linguistics and Professional Practice (JALPP) for a year.
The eligibility criteria are as follows: the author must currently be a postgraduate or postdoctoral researcher; the paper will have been accepted for oral or poster presentation at the forthcoming ALAPP conference; and the theme falls broadly under the interface of applied linguistics and professional discourse studies.
The procedure is as follows: a full-fledged written version is submitted to Srikant Sarangi (firstname.lastname@example.org) at least four weeks prior to the ALAPP conference; a panel of peer reviewers will assess the quality of the submissions against a set of guidelines and decide on the winner; the winner will be announced at the ALAPP conference; and the winning submission will be published in a future issue of the Journal of Applied Linguistics and Professional Practice (JALPP).
